We’ve got some cool racing girl news for you today folks. If you have been keeping an eye the IZOD Indy Car Series, than rewind to last year at the Kentucky Speedway, where under the Dollar General banner, Sarah Fisher took home the top honors. After the departure of Danica Patrick from IndyCar, Sarah Fisher is the top racing girl to contend with in this series. After such a successful showing last year with Dollar General as her sponsor, her racing team, Fisher-hartmant racing, has joined forces with Dollar General again this year, and they are set to sponsor her car during the 96th running of the Indianapolis 500.

Here’s the scoop on this sponsorship.
In recent press release that was issued by Dollar General and Fisher-Hartman Racing, Rick Dreiling, CEO of Dollar General, said, “Dollar General is excited to once again partner with Sarah and her team for the Indy 500 in the96th running of this iconic race. We look forward to having Dollar General represented in the ‘Greatest Spectacle in Racing.’”
“I am honored to welcome Dollar General back to our team for the Indianapolis 500,” said Sarah Fisher, owner of SFHR, in the same press release. “The privilege we have to continue the relationship with a company that stood behind us during the tough times at the start of our team means a great deal to me. This opportunity is a direct result of the fantastic relationships SFHR maintains with its partners.”
Fisher concluded, “It will be exciting for our fans to once again see the black and yellow No. 67 attempt to bring home a victory at the Indy 500.”
We’re rooting for you over here, Sarah.

If you were not paying close attention to the Super Bowl ads that aired during the 2012 Super Bowl, then you may have missed out. Traditionally, Super Bowl ads are humorous, witty and entertaining. They nearly have to be, because otherwise viewers will get bored and wander outside to check on the beer cooler. In recent years, we have all grown to greatly appreciate the racy ads by racing girl, Danica Patrick, for the Godaddy.com website, where she gets you hooked and then stops the video, urging you to visit their site to see the NC17 conclusion. But this ad, which featured supermodel Adriana Lima, waving a checkered flag in front of a Kia Optima, was never aired on TV for the Super Bowl. But it was supposed to have been.
The ad that aired showed the Victoria’s Secret runway model hanging out with the band, Motley Crew. But the ad that you never saw is a five hour, high definition eye-pleaser. It features Lima waving a checkered flag and wearing virtually nothing. Did we mention it spans five hours? Get comfy, because it is a slow motion video. And be ready for some serious racing girl looks like you have never seen before.

WATCH: Adriana Lima Wave a Flag in HD for Five Hours
You might be thinking that we are joking when we say what we have in the title above. But it’s no joke. April Fool’s Day has long since passed. This is the real deal. Aside from just being featured as a racing girl in the 2012 Kia ad campaign for the Super Bowl, Lima and Kia took things a step further by filming her waving a checkered racing flag for FIVE HOURS. Now, you can get your dish of it in by merely watching the HD version on YouTube, as this video was so popular that Kia posted the full length one up. Enjoy, and tune back in next week for racing girl action.

When most people think about the history of NASCAR, they rarely think about racing girls and the impact that they have had and are having upon the sport. But the sport has undergone many renovations in recent years. Today, it’s trying to diversify as much as possible to better balance the sex and race ratio. Now, more than ever before, there are more female drivers and drivers of varied ethnicities in NASCAR than there ever have been. But think back about 60 years, around the time that NASCAR became NASCAR, and one racing girl was already showing the world she had true grit: Sara Christian, the first female driver ever in NASCAR.

Not only was Sara Christian the first female driver in NASCAR, but she also competed in the very first NASCAR race. On June 19, 1949 at Charlotte Speedway, history was made. Piloting her no. 71 Ford – which was owned by her husband, Frank Christian – she managed to qualify as 13th overall in that race. About halfway through, the car had engine troubles and she allowed a family friend, Bob Flock, to finish the race on her behalf.
She would compete in one more race that year, on the Daytona Beach Road Course where she finished 18th. By the way, that race also featured other racing girls of the day on the track driving, including Ethel Mobley and Louise Smith, which also set history as the first race to field three female drivers in NASCAR – and during the 50s natheless. Christian also set a record later that year at Langhorne Speedway, where she was the first racing girl in NASCAR to post a top-10 finish. A year later, in 1950, she would finish 14th at the Hamburg Speedway before retiring her career.
Our hats off to the legendary first female driver in NASCAR: Sara Christian.

In 1973, Jennifer Jo Cobb first arrived on this planet. This Kansas native would take to driving cars – and really fast – at a very young age. In 1991, she began her official racing career, driving in cars at the Lakeside Speedway, following in the footsteps – or gas pedals – of her father, Joe Cobb, who also cut his teeth on this very same track. Following 2002, she had made 9 starts in ARCA Series, including wowing the racing girls’ world by posting 3 top-10s in 2004 while driving under the Keith Murt banner.

2004 would see her debut in the Busch Series at Homestead-Miami Speedway, where she was piloting the #50 Vassarette Chevrolet under the racing flags of the Keith Coleman Racing; but a crash ended that race early for her. Her entrepreneurial spirit saw her start her own clothing line called “Driver Boutique” in 2006 to help fund her continued racing aspirations. In 2009, she would again race in two races, Camping World Truck Series event at the Built Ford Tough 225, and O’Reilly Auto Parts 250 driving the #73 Dodge for Derrike Cope Inc; she did not finish in the top-10 in either race.
She’s also competed in NASCAR Nationwide Series and has accomplished something that Danica Patrick would even be proud of. In 2010, Cobb set history in NASCAR for being the highest female point scorer in all three major NASCAR divisions. She returns to the track full time this year driving the no. 10 Dodge Ram and Ford F-150. She will also drive in Nationwide Series part time in a stop and start car.

When you have the Claudia Shiffer looks, you are 22-years-old, you have the smarts to the likes of a reputable college degree in ballet, and you don’t mind modeling as one of the Mercedes racing girls, things are indeed looking up. Of course, we couldn’t be talking about anyone other than Alexandra Voda, pictured above.
Much like the AMG here features custom wheels, fenders, spoilers, a supped up engine and so forth, with an external MEC Design Kit to boot, the model posing next to it looks equally as worthy. That’s Voda, and she’s stunning. While she is not a race car driver, per-se, her extensive modeling shoots with supercars is a great platform that may take her to the pro races as a model some day (maybe even Miss Sprint Cup?)
When she is not getting scantily clad to blow our minds with photo shoots like these, Voda and her delightful 88-60-90 stats can be found teaching ballet; she has a degree in dance and ballet from a respected college. In case you are wondering how racing girls like Voda are able to keep such fine figures, it’s from hard work and working out. As you can see, Voda has no trouble keeping her waist size slim and trim.

Cyndie Allemann may not be a stranger to racing, but when it comes to SuperGT she’s still a rookie. And furthermore, she’s the rookie GT race girl to watch this year.
Head all the way out to the very Far East, and you would see Alleman in the qualifier for SuperGT in Okayama, Japan on March 31st, 2012. Allemann has been tasked with learning an entirely new series of racing, differing rules and its own unique qualifying system, of which she has seemingly done so with ease. Telling of this was her impressive 12th place finish in the opening qualifier at the Okayama International Circuit. Her teammate, Akihiro Tsuzuki, qualified in Q1 at 15ht place, and then Allemann took 12th in Q2.

Alleman Posts Well in Q2 in Lieu of Unpredictable Weather
“Right before Q2, I was sitting in the car waiting for the session to restart – they then pushed the whole thing by 10 minutes, because the sun came out, then rain started and it even started to snow,” Alleman recalled to the media following her successful rookie qualifying run at Okayama International Circuit.
“At this point, I really didn’t have any idea of the conditions I will have once on track. We started with intermediary tires, even though the track was almost dry. I tried to manage to the best I could, and I reached a good rhythm, enough to crack the top-10 – as a matter of fact, in the next to last lap, I was still in the top-10. The last lap looked very promising, but I was slowed down quite a lot by traffic in one corner. For me, it’s a bit disappointing because I would have liked to bring my team in Q3. But it was my first shot at Super GT qualifying, so it’s OK,” she added.
The newest edition to the SuperGT series is turning heads, and she arrives on the scene with a rather impressive racing resume.
- 18 years as a professional racer
- Won the European junior title when she was 13
- FIA-GT1 World Championship racing experience
- EuroF3, Indy Lights racing
- GT1 podium at Spa in the Le Mans Series, 24 Hours of Le Mans
- Will compete full time in Super GT championship in 2012
- Pilots Audi R8 LMS and GT300 class

The 2012 Pirelli World Challenge Championships will see a gleeful Shea Holbrook competing thanks to a full sponsorship deal that was announced in early December of 2011 by TrueCar. While some may say her 2011 showing was dismal, by all accounts, it truly was far from. Holbrook wrapped up the 2011 Pirelli World Challenge Season by setting a record as first female driver to win a Pirelli World Challenge Touring Car race. While she was not able to compete in all events that year due to car and sponsorship problems, thanks to her unwavering motivation, she caught the eye of TrueCar, and now has locked down a committed sponsor that will enable her to contend full time this year.

In a press release that was issued at the end of last year, Holbrook emphasized the high points of her season. “We had a fantastic season. We won the Long Beach Grand Prix in the Touring Car division, and I made history becoming the first woman to win a Pirelli World Challenge Touring Car race and now just the third to ever win a race at Long Beach. Do I wish we were on track competing more often? Of course (sic). Our partnerships grew, we received a large amount of exposure, we’re winning our race in leading the fight against Duchenne muscular dystrophy, and my race craft as a driver has enhanced,” Holbrook said in the release to the media.
She also enters 2012 with the “Optima Batteries Best Standing Start Award,” and the, “Sunoco Hard Charger Award,” which were offered for her improving 14 positions in the standings last year.
Holbrook finished 13th overall in the Touring Car division standings last year.
